Meet the Adoptables of Rescue Black

Our adoptable cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, are fully vaccinated and have tested negative for FIV. Many of the littles at the Rescue Black Project have spent their entire lives together as a result of being biologically related and rescued or surrendered together.  We endeavor to keep families together as much as possible and ask that you consider adopting in pairs. An adoption donation of $75 for one, $100 for two helps offset the cost of spay/neuter and vaccinations, helps us maintain the sanctuary and provide ongoing kitten enrichment.

Yogi and Boba

Littermates Yogi and Boba were born in June 2020 and surrendered to Rescue Black in January 2024 because their former mom started working and going to school fulltime and no longer had as much time to spend with them as they all would like. Yogi and Boba are is available for adoption as a bonded pair, with a request for an open adoption with his previous owner.

Yogi was  named after Hanna-Barbera’s Yogi the Bear.

Boba was named after Boba tea, (a drink with tapioca or fruit flavored pearls) because his former mom thought his eyes looked like boba

Nina, Noni and Hendrix

Nina, Noni and Hendrix came to us as a party of 5. Born in 2019, the matriarch Nina, gave birth to Noni in 2021 and to Hendrix and his two littermates in 2023.  One littermate didn't make it and the girl, Jimi, quickly found her forever home.  Nina and Hendrix continue to cuddle often, while Noni finds her passion in exploring.

Nina and Noni (originally called Stella and Eclipse by their previous owner) were renamed to honor the late singer, songwriter and civil rights activist Nina Simone.

Hendrix was named to honor the late singer, songwriter and guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Carat

Carat was rescued from a shelter in October 2023 and is estimated to have been born sometime in 2022.  She was a young mom but has since been spayed, is slow to warm up, but when she does, she is extremely affectionate and loves attention. Carat would do well as an only cat as she would love to have you all to herself.

Wednesday

Wednesday came to us in April 2024 as a transfer from another rescue.  Born in 2020, Wednesday is super sweet and affectionate, seeks out attention and would do well as an only cat, as she demands undivided attention.

Wednesday was given her name by her previous owners because she was born on a Wednesday.

Blackbean

Blackbean came to us in March 2024 as a rescue after a woman found him roaming in her backyard.  Not much is known about his age or history, but his personality is laid back and he likes to mind his own business. He is receptive to affection and gets along with the other cats.

Blackbean was named by the woman that found him because she thought he looked like a black bean.

Casey

Born sometime in 2020, Casey was surrendered to us in May 2024 because her owners were moving and could not take her with them.  Casey is a sweet, super affectionate lovebug who prefers humans over other cats.

Casey was named KC, which stood for kitty cat by her original owners. We softened her name and changed the spelling to honor the late DJ and actor Casey Kasem.
